Biography
Shingo Nozao is an award winning Japanese Calligrapher. His work has been selected for the first time at the Yomiuri Calligraphy Exhibition at the age of 18. The following year, he has won the Excellence Award. While studying in his college, he has won the Grand Prize for three consecutive years at the National High School & University Exhibition in Japan.
At the age of 22, he taught calligraphy to a Japanese actor Tsuyoshi Kusanagi in “Tokugawa Tsunayoshi – Inu to Yobareta Otoko (2004)” at the Shochiku Kyoto Film Studio. In addition, he taught calligraphy to the lead actors in Japanese TV drama series and films including Junichi Okada in a film “Hana – the Tale of a Reluctant Samurai (2006)” and Takeru Satoh for a film “Samurai Marathon (2019)”. Furthermore, Shingo was in charge of writing for a Japanese TV drama “Biblia Koshodō no Jiken Techō (2013)“.
After graduating from his college, he obtained an entertainment visa and moved to Melbourne, Australia. In 2006, he held a solo exhibition [mother’s body], which was certified as a Japan-Australia exchange year project. In 2007, an exhibition of his works was held at the Consulate General of Melbourne. Moreover, he visited about 80 local elementary, junior high and high schools and held calligraphy class and live performances. In 2011, he was in charge of the event title of the 20th anniversary tea party held at the National Gallery of Victoria by the Urasenke Tankôkai Melbourne.
After returning to Japan, he moved to the Kanto region to establish “Bokuho Kai 墨蜂会” and opened Nozao Calligraphy Schools mainly in Saitama and Tokyo.
